Driving In Reverse
A bimonthly residency event with a variety of musical tones from the digital underground world of electronic dance music.
Driving In Reverse aims to explore the dancefloor sonic aesthetic as far left as possible while maintaining the rhythm's tempo, hoping to see people dancing to sounds they might not typically enjoy and surrendering to a Shazam-less haze of dancefloor vibrations.
Focusing on a core of three well-established DJs, the event hopes to steadily expand its event line-up, extending its record-selecting duties to an eclectic list of guests and rhythm selectors.
The “horse drivers”:
Pene/Thanasis Besinis
Whenever you hear a slow-chugging groove emanating from an Athenian venue, it will usually mean that Pene is handling the selections. Owner and DJ of rapidly popular spot Radar, Pene continues to set the tone for a variety of decks throughout Athens and beyond , while also running his clothing label Reigning.
Hema-Wolfe/Lucas Savvidis
The Thessaloniki-based DJ known for a cross-genre sound of house, nu disco and indie dance. A musician, producer, DJ and electronic music enthusiast alike, Hema spends his time in his studio working on his own music when not performing his sets.
The Man From On High/Gerard Papasimakopoulos
A multitasker by trade and a track selector by night, Gerard is usually the person that will drop a track that has no business being there but somehow makes sense. A frontman for the now-defunct darkwave duo Rattler Proxy and also the Berlin-based Modern Ruin, his passion for the late 70s–early 80s NYC sound colors most of his sets.
Doors open at 8pm. The DJ set starts at 10pm.
* Must be over eighteen or escorted by an adult to enter the club. Please note that short pants and open footwear are not allowed in the club. Minors may be allowed to enter only if escorted by a responsible adult.
